Thelma Maxwell

January 6, 1948 — January 15, 2023

Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Thelma Yvonne Murphy Maxwell was born on January 6, 1948 in Trenton, New Jersey to the late Rev. William E. Murphy and Thelma Elizabeth Byrd Murphy. In addition to her parents, her brother, Thurman Murphy also preceded her in death. She was educated in the Mercer County public schools and was a graduate of Trenton High School with the Class of 1966. Later she received her Bachelor Degree in Restorative Nursing and retired in January 1997 after many years of service to the State of Arkansas.

On October 6, 1967, she united in holy matrimony with Gregory Maxwell and they were the proud parents of seven children.

Affectionately called “Yvonne” by family and friends, she loved spending time with them and will be sorely missed.

On Sunday, January 15, 2023, God sent his angel to safely escort Thelma to her new home that had been prepared for her.

She leaves to cherish precious memories her loving and devoted husband, Gregory Maxwell; daughters: Ruth Maxwell (Anthony), Alecia McQueen (Vantrial), Morgan Maxwell (Brandon), all of Clarksville, TN; sons: Jahdal Maxwell (Regina), Jacksonville, FL, Phillip Maxwell (Keya), Henry Maxwell, James Maxwell (Jordyn) all of Clarksville, TN; 26 grandchildren: Avery Bates, Anthony Horner, Jr., Kenni Witherspoon, Keniyah Witherspoon, Brishona Maxwell, Ariah Bell, D’asia McQueen, Jayde Maxwell, James Maxwell, Jr., Jensyn Maxwell, Makhenlea Maxwell, Jahdal Maxwell, Jr., Enzio Maxwell, JaQuintas McQueen, Major Bell, Wesley Bell, Tiffany Sanders, Tyshonna Horner, Shamteria Mhoon, Ashley Horner, Kaya Horner, Kaleb Blewett, Ko’Niylah Smith, Kearra Haynes, Tarus Phillips and Imani Williams; nine great-grandchildren; sister, Jennifer Murphy-Millington, Seaford, DE; brothers: William E.
