Samuel "Thumper" Northington

Samuel Lee, son to Ruth Malone and Collins Lee Northington,  was born on March 15, 1947 in Clarksville, Tennessee. His parents, sister, Hettie Mary Hutchinson and brothers: Collins Edward Northington and James Andrew Northington preceded him in death. Graveside service Friday, October 9, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Foston Memorial Gardens.

He accepted Christ as his personal Lord and Savior at an early age and was a faithful member of Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church.

“Thumper” as he was affectionately called by family and friends, received his education in the Montgomery County School System and he was a graduate of the Historic Burt High School with the Class of 1965. He retired in 1980 from Vulcan Corporation as a material handler. Not wanting to be idle, he accepted employment with the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System in the janitorial department. After 28 years of dedicated service, he retired again in 2008.

“Thumper” was an incredibly special and caring person to all and loved spending time with family and friends. He enjoyed watching movies and listening to music. He will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.

Samuel departed this life on Friday, September 25, 2020 at Clarksville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center of Clarksville, Tennessee.

He leaves to cherish precious memories to his daughters: Marilyn Turner McKenzie and Lakeithia Northington; four granddaughters: Alaysia Johnson, Juernae Northington, Jermya Mosely and Shamari Busby and a host of relatives  and friends.
