On July 8, 1973, a son, named Patrick August Martin, Jr was born to Patrick August Martin and Elsa Olivia Williams-Norris.
A native and longtime resident of Clarksville, Tennessee, Patrick attended New Providence Middle School and graduated from Northwest High School in 1991. At an early age, Patrick attended First Assembly of God Church.
Patrick entered the United States Army on August 8, 1991, where he started as a Field Artillery Cannon crew member. He ended his career in the military as a PAC NCOIC. He received several commendations and awards which included the Army Defense Attaché ribbon, Army Service ribbon, Military Outstanding Volunteer Service medal, Combat Action badge, Parachutist badge, Air Assault badge, the Iraq Campaign Medal with three campaign stars, just to name a few. Patrick retired with an Honorable Discharge from the Army on August 31, 2011 after 20 years and 23 days of dedicated service. He served as a Military Defense Attaché at several Embassies internationally and was a Masonic Member for Prince Hall Texas Lodge #645.
After retiring from the military, Patrick worked for the Department of Veterans Affairs starting 2012 as a Human Resource Manager and obtained the rank of GS-14. He was the HRO for several Veteran Administration hospitals across the country and made it his passion to assist hundreds of veterans, friends and family in understanding and seeking military benefits.
Patrick was an Equal Opportunity Leader. Patrick received a Bachelor’s degree in Business administration and a Master’s degree in Human Resource Management from Touro University International.
Patrick enjoyed and had an immense love of BMWs and in his spare time, loved fixing up and working on these great cars.
Patrick was unexpectedly summoned home on Thursday, November 19, 2020 while at the University of Kentucky, Lexington hospital.
Loved ones left to cherish his memory are his wife, Yonette Martin of Clarksville, TN; his three sons: Jaevon and Taevon Martin, both stationed in Germany, and Rafael Martin of Atlanta, GA. His one daughter, Brianna Martin of Austin, TX, mother, Elsa Williams-Norris, Clarksville, step-father, Evans Eugene Norris, Nashville, TN; Brothers: Conrado Martin of Fresno, CA, Kendrick Norris of Germantown, MD, Kevin Martin of Seaside, CA, Eric Martin of Uzbekistan. One sister, Kimaura Martin of Berea, KY; Mother-in-law, Yvonne Lesperans of Paramaribo, Suriname, South America and Father-in-law, Gerald Trotman of Georgetown, Guyana, South America; mothers of his children, Kia Timothy and Lula Gebreamlak; his trusted brother-mates, Tony Huggins of Clarksville, TN, Trevon Hill and Reginald Gilbert of TX and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and in-laws.
