Marilyn Scott

Marilyn, daughter to Henry Scott and Inell Ligon Scott, began her earthly journey on Monday, July 23, 1956 in Clarksville, Tennessee. Her parents,, sister, Sheila Scott and two brothers: Sherman Meriwether and Kenny Scott precede her in death.Marilyn was educated in the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System where she attended the Historic Burt High School and graduated from Clarksville High School. She enjoyed employment with the Trane Company.She accepted Christ as her personal Lord and Savior at an early age and she united with New Hope Baptist Church. Later in life she joined Word of Life Ministries where she continued serving the Lord as a Sunday School Teacher.  Through life’s trials and triumphs, Marilyn remained steadfast in her faith, always turning to scripture and prayer for strength and guidance. She was a source of encouragement to many living out the teachings of Christ in both word and deed. Her unwavering belief in the promise of eternal life gave comfort to family, friends and all who knew her. On Thursday, February 20, 2025, Marilyn departed this life peacefully at her home surrounded by loved ones. Left to cherish Marilyn’s memory are her sons: Gary Scott and James Jones, both of Clarksville, TN; daughters: Micheala Scott, Clarksville, TN and Shanika Clardy (Kermesha Henderson), Norfolk, VA; six grandchildren; sisters: Claire Mallory, Lisa (William) Lawrence, and Mary (Ernest) Smith, all of Clarksville, TN; brothers: James (Pearl) Meriwether, Columbus, GA; Lawrence Meriwether, Michael (Diane) Scott, Austin (Constance) Scott and William Scott, all of Austin, TX; aunt, Shirley Norfleet, Atlanta, GA; uncle, Carl Ligon, Clarksville, TN, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
