Gertrude Mitchem

Gertrude Smith Mitchem age 81 of Clarksville daughter of the late Freddie Albert Smith and Mildred Rodgers Smith was born on September 23, 1940. She departed this life on March 11, 2021 at Spring Meadows Nursing Home, Clarksville, TN. Viewing Wednesday, March 17, 2021 5:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m. with the funeral service to follow at 6:00 p.m. at Foston Memorial Chapel. Interment Grover, NC.
She was preceded in death by two sons: Gordon Mitchem and Rodney Mitchem; one grandson: Jeremiah Mitchem; her parents; two brothers: Thomas James Smith and Moses “Jimmy” Smith; two sisters: Dorothy Mae Smith and Sara Francis Foreman.
She leaves to cherish her fond memories, one daughter, Loretta (Robert) Williams of Clarksville, TN; one son, Wilbert (Tonia) Mitchem, Gastonia, NC; six sisters: Wanda (Alonzo) Wilson, Grover, NC; Joan Green, Lexington, SC; Betty (Robert) Martin, Mount Holly, NC; Mahasin (Seifullah) El-Amin, Statesville, NC; Peggy (James) Wilson, Bessemer City, NC; and Linda Smith, Commerce, GA; three brothers: Fred Smith and Robert (Carol) Smith, all of Grover, NC, and Gene (Maria) Smith, Anderson, CA; one brother-in-law, Carlton Foreman, Lithonia, GA; seven grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; 32 nieces and nephews; 60 great-nieces and nephews, and a number of great-great nieces and nephews and a host of cousins and friends.
