Bennie Griffey, Jr

Age 81 of Clarksville passed away September 19, 2017. Visitation Saturday, September 23, 2017 12:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m. at Foston Funeral Home. Family present 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m.with Masonic Rites at 6:00 p.m. at St. Peter African Methodist Episcopal Church 518 Franklin Street Clarksville, Tennessee, 37040. Funeral service 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 24, 2017 at St. Peter AME Church. Burial Resthaven Memorial Garden. He was born September 29, 1935 in Clarksville, Montgomery County, TN to Bennie Griffey and Gladys L. Stowe Griffey. His parents and sister, Cora Collins, preceded him in death. He was a graduate of the historic Burt High School Class of 1954. Bennie was a life member of St. Paul AME Church, Oakwood.He was employed by the Department of the Army, Directorate of Logistics, Installation Supply and Services Division, Ft. Campbell, Kentucky for over 30 years, retiring in 1996. He was a member of St. James lodge #51. He leaves to cherish precious memories his loving and devoted wife, Eloise Suggs Griffey; daughter, Capri Griffey- Elliott, Clarksville; son, Everette Raynall (Jackie) Griffey, Ft. Worth, TX; grandson, Everette R. (Brittani) Griffey, Jr, LaVergne, TN; great granddaughter, Emerald Griffey; sisters, Rosa Griffey, Woodlawn; Clara Poindexter, Clarksville and Dorothy (Marshall) Miller, Lawton, OK; aunts, Bertha Stowe, Clarksville and Ruby Stowe, Indianapolis and a host of other relatives and friends.
